Raiding discontinued for the time being

So I decided I'd make an official news post about this. We're done raiding firelands content - I know we didn't make it all the way through but the vast majority of us hated being there anyway. Doing something for the sake of doing it isn't always a great idea, and being that this is a game and we're supposed to be having fun....well... it wasn't fun. A bunch of us have started playing Rift on the Silkweb server, Guardian side. I've started an OOE chapter there which everyone is welcome to come over to. We aren't raiding or anything like that (yet?), just leveling, but so far I've had more fun playing Rift than the entire time in wow since Cataclysm. Unfortunately I think Blizzard really missed the mark on this expansion and the constant reuse of old content presented as "new" just doesn't really do it for me anymore. I did one all red raid instance in the form of molten core, and having to effectively go back and redo that content was pretty much the last straw for some of us.

Now, am I saying we're completely done with wow? No, not specifically, as I have hopes that Blizzard will take their 1+ million lost subscribers as a hint and turn things around. Unfortunately, based on what I've seen in the patch notes and blue posts, I'm not really convinced that 4.3 will be the answer.

So in the mean time, if you feel like I and some of the other officers do, I'd encourage you to check out Rift. It is very similar to wow in a lot of ways, so you'd instantly feel comfortable in the environment, with many many improvements in game play. It's also an exceedingly polished game and doesn't feel half fumbled together like a lot of other MMOs that we've looked into over the years.
